I am a BANT registered nutritional therapist, qualified at the College for Naturopathic Medicine in 2016. My specific interests lie in weight management including obesity and disordered eating, type 2 diabetes and blood glucose regulation.
I was drawn to this area following my own lifelong struggles with my weight and body image, and my work as an NHS diabetes prevention coach, where I witnessed first-hand the positive effects of diet and lifestyle on blood glucose levels. I have successfully worked with my clients on reversing their pre-diabetes and bringing their type 2 diabetes under better control. I quickly learned that it’s not always what we know that makes a difference, but what we do – so my focus is strongly on helping my clients to make meaningful changes to their lifestyles, using my specialist training in coaching and motivation techniques. Blood glucose management is at the core of what I do, although my approach is wholistic and always specifically tailored to the individual client and what they are looking to achieve. My client plans include dietary advice but also address other lifestyle measures, including stress management, sleep hygiene, and physical activity.
I have a strong interest in the psychology behind our eating behaviours, and have undertaken intensive additional training with the National Centre for Eating Disorders, on psychological interventions for obesity and eating disorders. I am also currently training in Emotional Freedom Techniques – also known as tapping – and hope to obtain my practitioner status soon.
